English

Hi everybody!


I like the idea of learning languages but now that is not my priority, maybe English yes. I spend more time doing other things but it doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to spend more time learning English.

Is fun for me communicating with foreign people in English, although I'm not perfect with it, is very interesting knowing various customs and personalities of people from other places. Sometimes you have such a very happy time.


Concerning to my experience with learning English at University, I can say that it has been good, principally learning grammar at the lab. As well, speeches are a fine way to practice.


Honestly, I'm a bit lazy for learning English, I should work my grammar specially when is about writing, so for sure doing blogs have helped me a lot. I'm not a lover of the grammar either in English or Spanish.
I know I have to practice it, mostly for the reason that many information related to my career is wrote in English.

So, for work that weakness I will read more. Besides I would like to go outside, maybe as an example to USA, I think learning there would be faster than here.  I will do that if I have the money to go or an opportunity that some organitation can gives me.

Outside the English class I use(apply) English a few times talking with my father. I use it too when I'm listening music so I have to translate or understand the songs, and a few times reading information.

Changes

Hi everybody! Often changes are essential to improve many things. I have not done much research or surveys on the subject of my university ambiance. Nevertheless, I will share some thoughts that I have about which changes I believe need to be made.

From what I have seen receantly, I would focus on remodeling various university buildings and infrastructure. The faculties of the Universidad de Chile have a lot of differences in reference to their building architecture and quality. For example, of all the faculties within my university there seems to be a different level of priorities or values set by the university administration between our faculties. A typical example is my faculty, which is Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. It isn't in the worst situation of all the faculties of my university but it would be much better if provided more revenue.

Im sure that our faculty perhaps should have more financing for more laboratories, buy more laboratory materials, enlarge and update our library, enhance the classrooms....

Also, we don´t have a designated place to eat which is a problem that needs to be solved.

Overall, for the amount of people that work or study at the faculty, the current infrastructure doesn't provide the space or facilities for our appropriate needs. 

Further, I would take away the obligation to take CFG, I believe they should offer as optional.

Just to fill a number of credits, it causes a bit of stress for me when I am obligated to take the CFG's. But who knows, maybe I will discover later that the CFG's were the best way after all ..

Even, with the additional variety of CFG's, the options are still poor. Such as a CFG for dance.....
This semester I didn't choose any CFG for the reason that nothing captured my attention.

Beyond what I have just described we know that there are even bigger related problems such as the overall quality of science in our nation.

Hi everybody!

In my holidays I rest a lot, sleep, watch movies and series, go out with my friends, I spend a lot of time with my boyfriend, I dance and I help more doing the housework.
So, I'm longing the vacations.

I'm planning to share my holidays with my family; my boyfriend, my father, my sister and my mother.

The last summer I walked almost everyday, instead of taking public transport a walked hours to a friend house, park, mall... I would like to do the same these holidays, keep my body in motion.


I would like to learn and refine latin dances such as salsa and bachata.

"Futrono" is not the lake I visited

With my father,  I went two years ago to a lake in the mountains near Futrono (two hours from there), the lake is so beautiful and pleasing, so I really want to return there these holidays. I camped there. I remember the water from the lake, I drunk it, it was so clean and transparent, it felt like your body was taking something soft. There is a lot of flora and fauna.
At Futrono you can find a lot of Mapuches, I would like to share some time with them and learn about the natural medicine they use.
Well, I love the south of Chile.

"Bahia Inglesa"

I would like to go to some beaches such as Bahia Inglesa. I saw some photos and I found it nice. Is different to the most common beaches. I like the colors of the beach.






Anyway, I want to spend a good time and have memorable moments.

Drugs

Hi everybody!

To begin with, I'm not in favour of all drugs stuffs☹. Although, from my perspective are beneficial when are used for medicinal purposes to some extent. 💊




Maybe my drug is Chocolate, it's so delicious. I love it.
Often, when I'm studying, I make excuses that I don't have enough energy so I eat something sweet like chocolate. I'm trying to stop eating too much chocolate because I was eating it almost everyday. 

Some articles say that dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao); helps the heart and the circulation, reduces risk of stroke, it's good for the skin and for the brain, it makes you feel better. 
However, majority of chocolate products have just a little amount of cacao.





Marihuana and alcohol are drugs of abuse that I thing are the most common, especially in young people.  Fortunately, none of my family like those drugs or any other drug, just my mom sometimes smoke cigarettes.

Nevertheless, some of the people that I care about the most beloved have had to take drugs for medical reasons.
 Clarifying, drugs not like the ones I mentioned, but drugs prescribed to treat health problem.Well, also they can be drugs of abuse if the people take it with other purposes.







 I tried marihuana with my old friends, but there was no much effects on me. I really didn't like it, and I was a bit uncomfortable, I felt it wasn't good. Currently, I have seen a high percentage of people consuming that drug. 




 

I've drunk alcohol, a few times, but never in excess. It's not so surprising to me, okay to share in special occasions.



In my opinion, nothing in excess is good😢

After my career..

Hi!! Time is passing too fast 😢 So I wrote about some themes I would like to study after my career.


For sure Post Graduate Studies are beneficial, they enlarge our knowledge. Not because we finish the career means we stop learning. If you are more capable in a subject or in your studies, you will be more successful, you will face the world with more answers.

Neurons

Referring to my future studies, I'v been thinking of various subjects. Opening, I would like to take the Biochemistry PhD degree, this course is taught in our faculty, there are numerous line research seems very nice such as neurosciences, Neuropathologies, Inmunology, Toxicology. In addition, I would like to take a Master, it could be about Genetic, Microbiology or Neurosciences. Those Masters are taught in the Faculty of Medicine. Obviously, I can't be completely certain about the above, my tastes can change, but searching now can help me to be more secure.


I prefer stuying here because I don't want to be far away from my family and I like here, specially the south of Chile. Although I'm not close to the idea of stuying abroad. 


Concerning to the way I would like to study, mmm... maybe part-time would be the best for me, for the reason that I could work or do other things in the free time. Although, I like the idea of full time study.

Anyway, I will try to learn the most Ican now, and after this career.
It feels good when you have a solution or explanation for doubts in the world and in the mind.

A job

Hi everybody!

The future is unknown and all can happen.



I would like to have a job that makes me happy or that allows me to enjoy the things I appreciate.
Definitely related to my career, Biochemistry. Work in a laboratory, make various researches, do something good.
Besides, a well-paid job of course, in the future I want to have my own family and my own house, so if I will have enough money to fill all, it would be the best. Working won't be my life.




If possible, located in a place where I can breathe clean air such as in the mountains-the south of Chile-. I'm a little stressed in this city, so I really don't want to spend my life here. Even worse, the smog makes me feel bad, I have problems with my respiratory system. Although, it won't be easy to change my customs.




Talking about specific themes to my dream work, I would like to work in the field of neuroscience or trying to find answers/cures in nature. I believe that we can solve our problems not just creating things but also finding novel solutions to unsolved problems.
So, post-grades that I'm contemplating: neuroscience, genetic or microbiology.

Well, nothing is impossible so we can try everything, we just need our willpower.

Hi everybody!

Hobbies mean to me something to let your mind and body free, let you feel confortable doing something that you like. Today, I'm going to write about some activities that I like doing.

Two of my favorite hobbies are dancing and listening to music.

I listen to music almost everyday, it makes me feel secure and happy. It relaxes me in moments of stress and when I'm studying it helps me to focus, although not in all the subjects. Also, I feel like dancing every time when I listening to music, so maybe that is why I like those hobbies fit perfectly for me.I know I have been listening to music by my own since I was a child, but I don't remember exactly the date.




So, my second hobby is dancing. For me this hobby means to move your body with the melody and rhythm of the music. When I dance I feel so happy and free. It takes all the stress and bad feelings away. The bad thing is that I don't practice this hobby often in my life:(, although it's something that makes feel so good. To clarify, I have never went to an academy or something similar, I just dance in my room or with friends.



Honestly, watching movies could have been one of my hobbies, but I don't enjoy it so much as I do with the hobbies I mentioned above.


When I was a kid my hobbies were doing jigsaw puzzle and sometimes dancing.
A hobby that I would never have....maybe hobbies that can damage people.
On the other hand, swimming and traveling are hobbies that I would like to have in my future.

The whole human body is a masterpiece. Is amazing how it works and keeps us alive.
For write the post I chose to talk about the brain.

If you are wondering... Do all animals have brain? No, not all the animals need a brain to survive.

I won't go into details, but I going to give a little description about the brain...

This organ is located in the top part of our heads, protected by the skull. It is composed of the cerebrum, cerebellum and brainstrem.

The brain with the spinal cord conform the body's central nervious system. It recieves signals from the sensory organs and sends signals to the muscles.

This beautiful organ controls all the functions of the body, our thoughts, movements, the intelligence, the emotions, the creativy, interprets information, etc.

There are many brain sizes, depending of the living being. Humans also have different sizes.

 

So, I have some questions...
What is the mind? What are dreams? Sleep is a vital body function... and dreams? why?

While we sleep the body release or increase the production of many hormones and neuropeptides, such as vasopressin, estrogen, progesterone, GH (growth hormone).....
Just one part of the brain stop his function while we sleep: the logic center. That is why the dreams, a lot of times, acquires forms of unreality



A description for dreams are stories and images our mind creates, while we sleep.

Dreams are one of the life's mysteries, there are just several theories. But scientists are searching the answers to all that questions.

My best Holidays

Hi! 💖

It's so relaxing to be in vacations and visit a lot of places. A moment for share with your family, friends, boyfriend.... for have fun!!!! 😊
I spent a lot of good moments in many holidays. In one of my previous blogs I wrote about one of my best journeys.

Today I'm going to share other of my best vacation days.
I think most of you have known the beach, maybe it's not so attractive talk about that but my wonderful vacation was there.

This last summer I traveled three times to the beach. I going to talk about two of them.

The first one was in "Quintay", near Valparaiso. The trip takes approximately three hours. I went with my father and my boyfriend.

I camped there in front on the beach, I was a little scared in the night thinking " a tsunami could come" hahha. 🌌

What I liked of the landscape was the mountains around the beach. Also there were not many buildings, so it looks more natural. The bad thing is, now is more famous so I believe it is going to change.



My second place was in "El tabito". It takes about an hour and a half to arrive. I went with my mother, her boyfriend, my little sister and my boyfriend.

We toured several beaches of the coast, "El quisco", "El tabo", "Cartagena", etc.
 In that ocassion we didn't slept in a tent. We spent the nights in a cabin.
 
I swam a lot, played a lot(cards and with a ball), talked a lot, walked a lot and laughed a lot. We made bonfires in the night. The worst part of the vacation was the mosquitoes, we suffered through the pain and irritation of mosquitoes bites.😓

A beautiful country...

Hi !

I would like to visit a lot of countries and learn about their cultures. I think that being just in our country limits the possibility to know other spectacular things. Obviously for travel the world you need money, so is not so easy. I've never traveled outside the country.

Costa Rica Flag

Anyway, the country that I have recently been thinking the most is Costa Rica. My father told me that it's a beautiful country to know. If I had the chance I would visit it. Maybe if I save some money.

The Republic of Costa Rica is a country in central America, surround by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean to the east.
The Capital is San Jose. The country covers 51060.00 square km of land and has a population of 4636348.

Why I want to visit it?

-The climate is tropical year round.

-The people say wonderful things about the nature. Has a rich variety of plants and animals. The jungles are some of the most pristine and secluded on the planet. Some places like  National park " Manuel Antonio Park", Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Tortuguero National Park, etc.

My experience with the blogs

Hi people! Again … Today I’m going to write about my experience with the blogs…

First I’m not good at writing or expressing myself with words, I think I have other better ways. Trying to look for a way to express a thought perfectly it’s hard, because for another person to understand a thought or feeling that comes from something external to oneself is not an easy work… Some people have a talent and other have to work for get better.

Well I have a scattered mind, it’s really hard for me to put in order my mind and more difficult to explain someone it.

So I have to put more effort. But doing the blogs has helped me to work that challenge. All that work with various and interesting themes. Equally I practiced my english grammar and vocabulary.
In general it has been fun.

I would like to include in the future a free writing theme for the blog. Maybe we want to write about things that we are interesting in the moment, or we want to express feelings, get carried away with words.

Also I would like to write about themes like; feelings and the relevance of them, important and unknown diseases, natural disasters, dreams and how they work, biology and about family.

I have enjoyed reading your blogs!!!!<3 It has allowed me to know you a little more.

Micro micro microo!

Life is not only the things we can see, life comes from many sizes, shapes, forms and more. Much of the world is made up of things that humans can’t see, unless they use some instruments that allow to see nano or micro things.

I'm going to tell you about one instrument that fulfills that function.  

A Microscope is an instrument used to see small objects that we can’t see just with our eyes. There are various sizes of microscopes depending to the size of the object you are going to observe.

With normal or common microscopes we can’t see things very smalls like particles or subatomic particles. There are special microscopes for that, but if you want to see for example plant tissues, you can use normal microscopes. 

Well this instrument is widely used, for example; in microbiology, in the hospitals is use to diagnosis the illness, to study crystalline structures and molecular structures. The scientist use a lot this instrument. 

The first time I used it was in the third year of high school, I was in biology class and we went to the laboratory (a small laboratory).  It fascinated me, so spectacular!

In the career of Biochemistry is important to use this instrument that allow us to see things in special sizes. Why? Because we study things that are related to small things of the world like cells, atoms, tissues, microorganism….  We study the life in a small way, relating the chemistry with the life.

I chose this instrument because personally I’m anxious to work with the microscope and see cells, tissues, small life. It’s beautiful to see all that existence, the shape and interactions of a micro world.  Also I think that it has helped in our lives a lot, and it can keep helping a lot to continue searching the answers in the micro things, to cure diseases and take care the world.

A subject I like

Today I’m going to tell you about something related to the university.

Do you have a special subject you like?

🍁When I chose Biochemistry one of the reasons for the decision was the idea of working in a lab.

The most enjoyable subject for me in this first semester at the university is Chemistry Laboratory Techniques. It is not my favorite but It is entertaining. I have the impression that a lot of classmates also like that. I like this subject because it has allowed me to use the laboratory instruments and do experiments.

🍁Before doing lab things I have a theoretical class, I learn how to use things and how it works, obviously we have to be prepared for avoid danger. So I have this class on Thursday in the morning, first a short theoretical class and then I go to the Lab for almost three and a half hours. Approximately I have 15 classmates in the lab.

The subject is taught by 7 teachers, we have one different each class.  I think it’s good having different people teaching, each one has various ways to teach. 
We have also one auxiliary for each section and one technical for each lab.

🍁Until now I have seen this contents in the class; Types of instruments and their use, general laboratory safety procedures and rules, titration, separation and purification methods, and other contents.

Well I hope not to forget all that I have learned… hahaha
